In short

  • Your buyer is who the agent looks for. Every person any signal finds is checked against it.
  • The check runs twice: first on the headline, then on a full profile read with a scored judgement.
  • Edit it on the agent's Sources tab: Who it looks for, then Edit buyer.

01Edit your buyer

Open Agent, then Sources. The card at the top, Who it looks for, shows the buyer as pills. Press Edit buyer (or Set the buyer if there's no job title yet):

  • Job roles (required): the titles the agent searches for. Add the other spellings your buyers use too, like VP Sales and Vice President of Sales.
  • Industries: empty means any industry. Three or more keep the volume up.
  • Locations: countries or regions. A person whose location can't be placed is still kept.
  • Company size and Company type.
  • Exclude: service providers, freelancers, consultants and people open to work, each a switch. Recruiters, students and interns are always left out.
  • Words or companies to avoid: anyone whose headline, role or company mentions one is left out.
  • Mandatory keywords: only people whose profile says one of these, exactly as typed. The strictest filter there is; most buyers need none.

02How strict

The last choice is how closely a person must match before the agent keeps them:

  • Best matches only (recommended): matching titles, and senior ones worth a check. Weak fits are dropped.
  • Broader: also checks other titles and keeps weaker fits. More leads, less exact.
  • Skip the title check: judges everyone the signals find. Uses more of the day's profile reads.

03How the fit check works

  1. The quick check. Titles and headlines are compared with your buyer. Most people stop here, before a profile is opened.
  2. The full read. The people who pass have their profile opened in full and scored against your buyer.
  3. The lead. Everyone who survives becomes a lead with a fit number from 0 to 1 and a line that says why. That line is what their first message is written from.

Whoever is dropped, the reason is kept. Agent, then Activity, ranks them under Why N were dropped: a title miss wants a wider buyer; a headline miss wants a sharper signal.

04Teach it

On Leads, each row has three buttons: More like this, Fewer like this and Not this person. Teaching moves the fit number, and takes effect on the next scan. Not this person means the agent never contacts them.
