01Why you heard from someone using FOUND
A business runs a FOUND agent from its own LinkedIn account or mailbox. The message came from that business, in its name. FOUND is the software it uses.
The agent noticed something you did in public, in a professional setting: a reaction or comment on a post about a topic the business cares about, a post of your own, engagement with a competitor's page, a new job, or your company hiring or raising money. It then checked that you fit the kind of buyer the business sells to.
What FOUND may hold about you
- Your name, headline, job title, company, location, LinkedIn profile address and member ID.
- The public activity that surfaced you, and the reason the agent gave for including you.
- Facts about your company: size, industry, website, and the technologies its website uses.
- A work email address, found and verified, if the business's sequence has an email step or it asked for one.
- The messages between you and that business, and whether you replied or opted out.
- Whether you opened an email, only if the business switched on open tracking. It is off by default.
- That the business's agent viewed your LinkedIn profile. LinkedIn may have shown you the visit.
Our privacy policy has the full list, where each item comes from and how long it is kept.
What we never do
- We never sell your data.
- We never collect your phone number.
- We don't pass one customer's leads to another, with the same three exceptions our privacy policy lists: our cache of verified work emails, which lets a lookup made in the last 30 days be reused instead of paid for twice; the pool of company facts and funding and hiring news, which is about companies and holds nothing about you; and opt-out requests, which work for every customer.
02Fastest: reply "stop"
Reply "stop", "unsubscribe" or "not interested" to the message, on LinkedIn or by email. That business's agent stops at once, cancels anything it had queued to you, and never writes to you again. In an email, the opt-out line at the end works the same way.
A reply covers the business that wrote to you. To be blocked for every FOUND customer, send the request below.
03Send a request
Choose what you want and tell us how to find you. The form writes the email for you; you send it from your own email app.
Your request is ready to send
Your email app should have opened with it filled in. Press send there, and we acknowledge within 48 hours.
04What happens next
- We acknowledge within 48 hours, replying to the address you wrote from.
- A stop: we block your LinkedIn profile and your email in every FOUND workspace, and cancel anything queued to you, within 30 days and usually much sooner. We don't ask you to prove who you are for a stop, because a stop only ever reduces contact.
- A copy, a deletion or a correction: first we check the request comes from the email address in question. If we only hold your LinkedIn profile, we ask you for a simple proof that it's yours. Then we do it within 30 days and email you when it's done.
- To keep a block working, we keep only your LinkedIn profile address, member ID and email. Ask and we delete those too, but then the block can't work.
- If we can't do something, we tell you why, and where you can complain.
Today, a block for every customer is applied by hand, including to businesses that join FOUND after your request. That is why we say within 30 days rather than at once.
05Your rights, wherever you are
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you and for a copy, have it corrected or deleted, object to being contacted, and complain to a regulator if you're not happy with our answer. Asking costs you nothing, and using these rights never counts against you.
In the EU, the EEA or the UK
Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction and a portable copy, and you can object whenever we rely on legitimate interests. Your objection to direct marketing always wins. We answer within one month. You can complain to the data protection authority where you live or work, or in the UK to the Information Commissioner's Office.
In the United States
State privacy laws, such as California's, let you find out what we hold, have it corrected or deleted, and opt out of its sale or its use for targeted advertising. FOUND doesn't sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. Someone you authorise in writing can make a request for you. You can also contact your state's attorney general, and in California, the California Privacy Protection Agency.
In India
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask for a summary of what we hold and who we shared it with, have it corrected, completed, updated or erased, and nominate someone to use your rights if you die or can no longer act yourself. hello@foundtofind.com is our grievance contact. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Anywhere else
We give everyone the same rights, on the same timelines, whether or not a local law requires it.
